One of the local Pony Clubs held a show just down the road today, so I took Scottie along for a nice morning out. It was a qualifiers show with showing classes, hunter classes and show jumping, as well as some fun pony club bits in the afternoon.
I entered us in Best Condition in hand, partly to give me time to relax and partly as we did well in it last time. There were about 10 horses in the class, with some very professional looking people, obviously looking to qualify. Despite this, we managed to place 5th, with the other two horses from our yard coming 3rd and 6th.
Since the ground has been so hard recently, I wasn’t sure about jumping. However, with a bit of rain over the past few days, and the area being really flat and grassy, I decided to enter him in a clear round class. He was a bit excitable in the warm up ring and between the rings with all the jumping, but I think this was just him wanting to get on with it, as when I pointed him at a jump he went very nicely and we went clear.
Was a really good morning out. Hopefully we will do a bit more jumping at our next show, as we both need the practice!

Thank You! Really starting to do well! (if there’s not too many scary fillers!)
