With all the Equestrian Olympic events now over, I thought I would have a look at the medal board for the equestrian events! And unsurprisingly, Germany came out on top!
Rank | Country | Gold | Silver | Bronze |
1 | Germany | 2 | 2 | 2 |
2 | France | 2 | 1 | 0 |
2 | Great Britain | 2 | 1 | 0 |
4 | USA | 0 | 1 | 2 |
5 | Sweden | 0 | 1 | 0 |
6 | Canada | 0 | 0 | 1 |
6 | Australia | 0 | 0 | 1 |
This was thanks to their Fantastic performances in all 3 disciplines! The most memorable of which are Michael Jung’s Individual Eventing Gold, Β Team Dressage Gold and jumping off against Canada to secure Team Bronze in the Show Jumping.
France did very well too! Getting team golds in Β both Eventing and Show Jumping. Where as Great Britain managed 2 Individual golds in the Dressage and the Show Jumping. Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro rode a truly beautiful test an I think Big Star’s enthusiasm for show jumping won over the audience, making his individual Gold with Nick Skelton a beautiful thing.
The USA also did well with 2 team medals in Show Jumping and Dressage, holding their own against the strong European teams.
What were your favourite moments of the Equestrian at Rio 2016?
