The Wills Writing Awards are annual awards for under 26 year olds with a prize fund of over Β£3000. The aim of the awards is to recognise quality writing, whether it be fact or fiction, on a horse racing theme.
There are 4 categories; under 26, under 18, under 15 and under 12. An in depth knowledge of the racing industry is not important, but big factual errors might be βmarked down.β Anyone from the UK and Ireland can enter (excluding previous winners and employees of the national/racing press.) Every winner will receive a trophy and some entries may be published in the racing post. Find out more about the awards on the official website.
You might be wondering why I am blogging about this award. Well, there are a few reasons. The first is that many of you are probably also equine bloggers who write well and might be interested in entering the awards this year. The second reason is that I am hoping to find the inspiration to write something to enter this year, if I can decide whether to write fact or fiction! So I thought I would share this all with you and maybe inspire some of you to also get involved!
Entries close 28th February.
