Getting ready for Camp

schooling scottie in merino wool saddle pad

On Wednesday me and Scottie head off to our first ever riding camp and I can’t wait! There are lots of people (and horses) from previous yards we have been at who will be there too and they might even be in the same group as us for some of our riding sessions!

We will have 4 riding sessions over the 2 days including; a flat, a pole, a jumping and some time on the cross country course. I’m hoping we to have our cross country on the second day, or at least after a positive jumping/pole work session, just so we can get our eye in a little bit as it’s been a long time since we went cross country schooling. I do find that Scottie (and me) is much better jumping when we are being supervised, so hopefully we will be confident and enjoy it and not have a day where we struggle to get over a pole! Also he has been really brave over poles recently that hopefully this will translate to over jumps.

I am also hoping that at least one of our sessions will be in an indoor arena. Scottie has only ever been in one indoor school with me and he really hasn’t been a fan. So it would be a good experience for him to spend some time in more arenas.

We are really lucky that there will be a photographer there who will be taking photos on the cross country course and hopefully a few other sessions too. He has very kindly offered his photographs free of charge, but would like you to make a donation to the charity of his choice. So hopefully there will be some good photos to show you next week.

Since I will be away, things will probably be a little quite on EquiPepper, unless I write and schedule some posts in advance for you. But there should be updates on our social media, so keep your eyes peeled!
