In case you missed my rather excited social media posts yesterday, I am really pleased to tell you that we made Feedspot’s top 100 Equestrian blogs/websites! Not only did we make it, but we also ranked 42nd! Just behind our friend The Dressage Tipster.
Unlike some other rankings of this type, it is not all based on who reads your blog! It’s also about how strong your blog is both creatively and digitally. They create their rankings using the following criteria:
- Google reputation and Google search ranking
- Influence and popularity on Facebook, twitter and other social media sites
- Quality and consistency of posts.
- Feedspot’s editorial team and expert review
Now I have quite a small social media following compared to many of those ranked in similar positions to me, so it is really fantastic to know that all that work I put into SEO and creating good content is really paying off!
The rankings are updated each week, so it will be interesting to see how it changes each week. As far as I am aware, this is the first week they have produced this ranking, so I am unsure as to how they found the blogs to feature. There is an option on the page to submit your blog to be included in the rankings, so we may well see a few new blogs in the top 100 next week. But they did say that these top 100 were ranked from thousands of blogs, so I don’t know how much it will change each week.
With Scottie’s ongoing rehab and starting a new job, EquiPepper has taken a bit of a back seat recently with me not having time to do the things I want and also considering making a few big changes to how we work to improve the website and experience for our readers. This new ranking has inspired me to find that extra time to start implementing these changes and aim to stay in the top 100 and maybe creep up a few places if we can!
I am unsure how much traffic this website gets, but I am hoping it could be a great way to reach new readers as the ranking is hugely interactive and offers plenty of ways to subscribe to and follow blogs which take your interest! I will try and keep you all updated on social media with our progress in the rankings.
