At the weekend Scottie had his routine visit from our lovely back lady. While he has no serious issues in his back, he always has a bit of a niggle here and there, which I think is perfectly acceptable in an ex racehorse! But I am over the moon to say that this time there was nothing wrong with his back at all!
For many horse owners this may not seem like a big deal, most horses don’t have issues what need fixing. However, Scottie is an ex racehorse who, when I first got him had a very wonky pelvis which needed adjusting. He is also prone to being cold backed, which is often linked to pain or discomfort. And finally, while my saddle fits, my saddler feels it sits a bit close to his withers, so I am constantly on the look out for any signs of discomfort.
This combined with the fact that he is coming back from quite a nasty injury, it is pretty amazing that he hasn’t got any niggles anywhere. In fact our physio was very surprised she didn’t find anything! So I am really over the moon about this! Onwards and upwards!
