I received an email this week from one of my followers saying that they have difficulties reading and if there was any way I could include an audio version of my posts. Well I am pleased to announce that this is now live! In fact just above this paragraph there should be a little bar with a play button where you can listen to this post. Why not go and press it now?
You can currently listen to these blog posts anywhere you have an internet signal. You can listen on your phone, tablet or discount. There may also be a way for you to download posts on apps like iTunes and listen there too. But this is still a feature I am exploring.
This feature is also now live on all of our blog posts and future blog posts. However, this feature isn’t available on our static content pages such as the home page, about me etc. But if this is an issue, we can look into adding this in more places.
While this is all live now, there may be a few teething issues. I don’t know how well this tech will cope with some of the horsey terminology and I need to go through and tweak all the alternative text on my images so that it makes sense when it reads them out. But the important thing is it is live and it works. So EquiPepper is already more accessible!
More Accessible Social Media
This whole thing has also made me realise that my social media could also do with being more accessible. While I do a lot of photos and video to make things more visual and less text heavy, I do virtually no videos of me explaining things. So I am challenging myself to vlog on social media more.
I have been thinking perhaps an Instagram/facebook story once a week going into more detail or talking about one of my blog posts that week. I could have a poll somewhere are you can vote for which topic you want to hear about. But these are all just ideas right now so I would love to hear what you think!
