En Vogue ~ Why you should be watching

Own Photo from your horse live En Vogue

4 years ago I was first introduced to En Vogue at Your Horse Live. This Jazz baby was being ridden by Charlotte Dujardin in one of her demos. He was just 7 at the time and I remember being quite excited about him.

Charlotte bought him as a 3 year old and he was so wild back then that she never thought she would be able to get on him. During the backing process he had even managed to bronc his saddle over his head. But despite his dramatics at the start, he did settle down and he was already working on Grand Prix movements in 2016.

By the end of 2016 he had won both his advance mediums and seemed to be one they thought would go far. Likening him to Carl’s Nip Tuck. Charlotte hoped he would be a Tokyo 2020 horse.

I don’t often follow the dressage, but he made such an impression on me that I always kept an eye out for him. I feel he maybe hasn’t had as much coverage as some of their other horses, despite the glowing reviews Carl & Charlotte have always given him. Up until recently I always found it quite hard to find what he was up to.

Carl Hester now rides him and it does feel like he is being aimed at Toyko and has been appearing more and more on Carl’s Instagram. I really think he is an exciting one to watch. He might not make this Olympics, but I would be shocked if we don’t see him at one in the future.
