From Uni Yearling to 4* Winner

Hermes (Lordships Graffalo)

A few years ago I wrote about how excited I was to see one of the horses bred at my University, who I worked, with had gone to Ros Canter. Lordships Graffalo, or Hermes as I knew him, was a cheeky twat – and that is putting it politely! But when he moved he floated and you just knew he could be something special.

Now known as Walter, I have really enjoyed watching his progress with Ros Canter. From his first shows, to working at home, it is great to see him using all of that potential we saw in him as a yearling.

But the most exciting news is that he recently won a 4*! They won Section B of Dassett Eventing CCI4* at Aston-Le-Walls international. They finished on their dressage score after 2 faultless jumping rounds. In an interview with Horse and Hound Ros explained that it was the first time she had pushed him for more speed across country and she was really pleased with how he coped with it. It sounds like he might relish the short format competitions going forward.

I will keep following his progress and I will keep being so proud of what he has achieved. While I played such a small role in his education, I feel so proud of having worked with a horse who is now achieving such great things.
