Are you looking for the perfect winter turnout rug? Look no further than this Tiger patterned turnout rug. We love a Ponyo turnout rug and the benefit of the colder weather is being able to use more of these rugs!
Fantastic features as standard!
Ponyo don’t complicate things. All their patterned turnout rugs are identical in terms of features. You just change the pattern, size and weight! I have been very impressed with the features that come as standard, even in their lightweight rugs. Some of my favourite features are:
- Detachable necks as standard
- Double lock velcro on the chest
- Choice of leg straps or fillet string
Not only this but I find them really durable and affordable. Check out my review of the 0g Watermelon turnout for more details on these great features!
Bring the warmth to Winter!
One of my favourite things about this Tiger pattern in particular, is how it really brings the warmth to Winter. This fun tropical jungle print really stands out in the gloomy evening and frosty mornings. Everyone comments on how lovely it is to see Scottie bringing the tropicana to Hertfordshire! The greens also compliment his ginger perfectly.
Don’t worry about the mud either! I find that Ponyo turnout rugs really hold their own against the mud. Even after a good roll, the pattern still shines through. It’s like they are coated with mud repellant…
50g feels like 50g
I really like an inbetween weight rug like 50g as I just feel like it is such a big jump from 0g to 100g, especially when some brands use such heavy material as well! But sometimes I think the filling in these 50g rugs can be a bit on the heavy side. In my opinion, Ponyo does a great job of getting this balance spot on. Their 50g filling really feels like half way between their 0g and their 100g.
This works really well for us as Scottie is a hot horse. Once the temperature drops he needs more than his 0g but until he is clipped he doesn’t need a 100g. He lives in his 50g and when it drops a bit more, then popping on his detachable neck is the perfect solution.
If I could change one thing…
The only improvement I would make, what I have noticed since the temperature has dropped, is that Scottie could do with an extra inch or two in the neck. He has a very long neck, so most horses would be fine. And the neck does cover most of him. Just being such a mud monster it would be nice to have another couple of inches for protection! But this really isn’t an issue at all.
Ponyo have also accounced that they are discontinuing this pattern & their Monkey pattern! So not only is there limited stock left in these, they are also on sale! So you can pick them up at a bargan price if they still have your horses size!

I am really lucky to be one of Ponyo’s Brand Ambassadors! I love being able to support this fantastic brand. But it also means I get to offer you all a cheeky 5% discount on any Ponyo product for you, your horse or even your dog! Go on, treat yourself!
