2022 wasn’t a great year for us. It’s been busy with lot’s of stop starts. I haven’t been riding Scottie recently. It’s been a few months of when I do actually have the time to ride, the ground is either frozen solid or it’s pouring with rain. So Scottie has been enjoying some time off in the field with his friend Jo. But things are about to change!
2023 is going to be an exciting new year for me. I have just started a new job what give me the opportunity to travel. It also gives me the chance to make some changes to my routine for the better. I’m already set to head off to California this month and I have plans to kick start with riding once I get back.
I gave myself some time off before starting my new job, which let me get some of my things in order. In the cold weather I noticed Scottie was starting to stiffen up in his arthritic hock. So I made sure to get his steroid injection booked in. He wasn’t looking too bad at all and the vet commented that he wasn’t as puffy as last year. But I knew it was wearing off and I am pleased to see that he looks a lot better since his steroids.
All being well, we will be back schooling and hacking by the end of the month. He felt so good early last year and I’m hoping we can get back to that and start looking at entering a few online dressage tests again. Fingers crossed for a better year this year!
